Country Girl

I've been to the big city
and saw the wonderous
bright lights. But deep down
inside I'm no socialite.

The butterflies, the raccoons,
the squirrels and the bees...
The grasshoppers are my orchestra
and the birds my melody.

I've lived in the suburbs for
many a year, but the sound
of leaves rustling is what
I long to hear.

The sun sets on the deer
in the meadow and the
cows down the path.

The intoxicating fragrance
of ripe grapes are natures
perfect nightcap.

Through the years fate
may take me elsewhere,
but always in my heart
I'll cherish my country
memories like a treasured
teddy bear.
