Spirit Of Autumn

My favorite time of year is coming. You know how I can tell? It starts with the teasing fragrance of ripening grapes on the vines in the neighboring vineyards. The fragrance within a month becomes overpowering.

If you breath through your mouth you can taste the enchanting sweetness. Your heart feels young and gently tugs at you to lay upon the grass, close your eyes and breath it all in again and again. You become a child just for those all too brief moments.

In only but a few weeks the sweet fragrance fades and in it's place is the subtle fragrance of ripe pumpkins bringing with it childhood memories of past Halloween's... Picking out costumes, carving pumpkins, and trick or treating.

All too soon comes cooler air with a hint of winter to it. But I am not sad for the loss of nature's fragrances because with the cooler air of winter comes Thanksgiving and Christmas. Bringing more memories to cherish in the years to come.
